My Memory:

Owned somewere in the 70's.  I think this was one Mother Jane liked, but probably for the motoring. In my recollection it's sailing was so-so, and it did not come about easily.

No know family photos, here is one from FiberGlassics.

AI Overview

Ah, a rare gem from the early fiberglass era! The **1959 Bock Motor Sailer** was part of a short-lived but fascinating chapter in American boatbuilding history. Built by Bock Boats, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio, the company was founded by twin brothers Carl and John Clement, who expanded their family’s laundry machine business into boat manufacturing.

### 🛥️ Key Features of the 1959 Bock Motor Sailer:

- **Construction**: Fiberglass hull—quite innovative for the time

- **Design**: Convertible configuration—could be used as a sailboat, motorboat, or both

- **Length**: Models ranged from 19' to 23'

- **Power**: Often paired with an outboard motor (some had up to 35 hp)

- **Sailing Rig**: Mast and sail kit could be added to convert it into a motor sailer

- **Style**: Known for a flared bow to reduce spray and a bathtub-like hull shape

### 🧭 Historical Tidbits:

- The boats were often sold as **modular kits**, allowing buyers to customize them as fishing boats, runabouts, or sailboats.

- Performance-wise, they were considered **heavy and overbuilt**, which made them stable but not particularly fast under sail.

- Despite their quirks, they’ve become **collectible curiosities** among vintage boat enthusiasts.
